ITINERARY

6 NIGHTS / 7 DAYS

DAY 1:  Rio de Janeiro

Arrival in Rio de Janeiro and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Overnight in Rio.

DAY 2:  Rio de Janeiro (B, L)

After breakfast, start your tour with a visit to the Corcovado railway in Cosme Velho, with a panoramic drive along the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon. Train ride through the forest to the top of the Corcovado mountain and the statue of Christ the Redeemer 710m above sea level. Time allocated enjoy the marvelous view of Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi – the city on the other side of the Guanabara Bay. Train back down. The tour continues through the “Rebouças” tunnel, passing the lagoon “Rodrigo de Freitas”, São Conrado, Barra and returning via the beaches of Barra, São Conrado, Vidigal, Leblon, Ipanema and Copacabana to the Marius Restaurant for a delicious lunch break. We continue on the way to the Sugar Loaf cable car station. Which takes 6 minutes of cable car ride, first to the “Morro da Urca” mountain, 270m above sea level and then another 5 minutes to the top of the Sugar Loaf mountain, 395m above sea level. If time permits, visits to downtown Rio de Janeiro, passing the cathedral and the Samba Stadium; “Sambodromo”, before returning to the Hotel. 

DAY 3:  Rio de Janeiro – Petropolis (B)

The city of Petrópolis is located at 60 km away from Rio and it’s called the Imperial City since the Emperor Pedro II, enchanted by its fresh climate and beauty, bought a large property in 1830. Settled by the Germans, Petrópolis keeps the memory of Brazilian history with its buildings and charming streets.

This tour starts with the visit to the Imperial Museum which has been the summer residence of the emperor D. Pedro II and that keeps furniture and objects such as the crown of gold, pearls and diamonds used by D. Pedro I and D. Pedro II.

The tour will continue on the Gothic Cathedral where Princess Isabel was buried along with the tombstones of D. Pedro II and his wife and then the Crystal Palace, built in France and mounted in Brazil, destined to shelter exhibitions and great parties promoted by Princess Isabel. 

 

DAY 4:  Rio de Janeiro (B, D)

Breakfast at the hotel, then enjoy a full day free to shop, see the sights and explore more of Rio. In the evening celebrate your last night in Rio with dinner accompanied by the tropical rhythms of an excellent Samba Show. Overnight Rio 

DAY 5:  Rio de Janeiro – Iguassu (B)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Iguassu Falls. Upon arrival, transfer to the selected hotel for two nights including breakfast. 

 

DAY 6:  Iguassu (B)

After breakfast, enjoy a half-day tour of the Argentine side of this magnificent natural wonder, the falls. Take the jungle train to the point above the falls and walk out on the elevated walkways to look down right into the Garganta del Diablo, the Devil’s Throat, the most spectacular part of the falls. 

 

DAY 7:  Iguassu (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home or to an on-going destination.
