ITINERARY

10 NIGHTS / 11 DAYS

DAY 1: Ponta Delgada (B)

Arrival and transfer from airport to your selected hotel.

DAY 2: Sao Miguel (B)

After Breakfast, the day begins visiting the traditional pineapple´s plantation, where it’s possible to taste the pineapple´s liquor. The journey continues on the west coast of the island where it´s possible to enjoy the view over the newest and narrowest part of São Miguel and both coasts from the Pico de Carvão‘s viewpoint. Surrounded by the greenest vegetation, we will find in Vista do Rei ‘s viewpoint Sete Cidades volcanic complex as well as the twin lakes (Blue and Green lakes). Then we will stop to visit the picturesque Sete Cidades town where the lunch will be served in a regional restaurant.

 

DAY 3: Sao Miguel (B,L)

Leaving Ponta Delgada, the first stop will be at Vila Franca do Campo, the first capital of São Miguel, located in the south coast, where it´s possible to taste the famous pastry – Queijada da Vila (kind of a cheesecake). Arriving at Furnas‘ valley, near the romantic lake, we will see some volcanic phenomena, known as fumaroles and also the underneath of the famous Cozido das Furnas (Furnas stew), a gastronomic specialty of Azores. We continue to Terra Nostra garden until lunch time with the possibility to experience a thermal bath. We will the famous Gorreana tea plantation and its factory, located in Ribeira Grande‘s municipality, there we will taste the two kinds of tea – black and green. The last stop will be at Santa Iria‘s viewpoint to have a gorgeous view over the north coast.

 

DAY 4: Sao Miguel (B)

Today is a day of leisure to explore your surroundings on your own.

DAY 5: Sao Miguel/Terceira (B)

After Breakfast, Transfer to the airport for your flight to Terceira Island. Upon arrival transfer to your selected hotel. Rest of the day free.

 

DAY 6: Terceira (B)

Terceira means “the third”, earning its name because it was the third discovered among the nine Azorean island .

Free Morning to visit Angra do heroismo, classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage City. Afternoon Departure to Monte Brasil , stop at the Belvedere to view the city of Angra. Continue toward Biscoitos, visit the wine museum and the natural pools of black volcanic rock. On the way back to Angra we will stop at Praia da Vitoria.

DAY 7: Terceira/Faial (B)

After Breakfast, Transfer to the airport for your flight to Faial Island. Upon arrival transfer to your selected hotel.Rest of the day free.

 

DAY 8: Faial/Pico/Faial (B)

Transfer to the Quay for the boat crossing to Pico(30 minutes) Full day in Pico. Departure for Madalena to the Northern Cachorro and Lajido. Continue to Roque to visit the whale factory and the natural swimming pool. Continue along the mountain road towards the Lagoa do capitao at 900 m of altitude. Stop in Lajes to Visit the museum. Continuing along the south coast we will briefly stop at the misterios de Sao Joao and then continue to Sao Mateus to visit the church. Pico s vineyards are a UNESCO world heritage site since 2004. Return to Madalena and boat crossing to Faial.

 

DAY 9: Faial (B)

Day of leisure to explore on your own.

DAY 10: Faial (B)

Today, will be a full day in Faial; Departure from Horta towards Espalamanca, following the mountain road with views to Vale Dos Flamengos, up to Caldeira, the highest point on the island and then heading north towards Capelinhos Volcano where we can admire the remains of the last eruption in the Azores (1957) and visit the Volcano information Centre.

DAY 11: Faial (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home or to an on-going destination.
