ITINERARY

9 NIGHTS / 10 DAYS

DAY 01: Buenos Aires
Arrival in Buenos Aires and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Rest of the day free at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

DAY 02: Buenos Aires – Salta (B)
Today, board a flight to Salta and transfer to your chosen hotel. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a city tour. Visit 9 de Julio Square, Cathedral Church and more. You will enjoy many attractions such as Ascension to San Bernardo Hill, a panoramic view of the city and the Lerma Valley. You will also be able to enjoy the artisan market! Overnight at hotel.

DAY 03: Salta – Cafayate (B)
Early in the morning, you will start a full day journey to Cafayate. Travel through Salta city to the south, through route 68 traversing the Lerma Valley and all its historical towns. You will reach Quebrada de las Conchas (Shell’s Gorge), where wind and water erosion carved curious shapes on the rocks. When you arrive at Cafayate, you will visit some wineries, famous for their production of Torrontes. After lunch, you will return to Salta through the Quebrada de las Conchas and the Lerma Valley. Overnight in Cafayate.

DAY 04: Cafayate – Cachi (B)
After breakfast, you will begin your excursion to Cachi. Journey out by Lerma’s Valley up to the village Del Carril, continuing to Chicoana and entering in Quebrada de los Laureles. From there, pass through La Quebrada de Escoipe and come to the Maray. Then, travel to La Cuesta del Obispo, a way with abundant curves that it allows you to enjoy a panoramic sight of the Delighted Valley and small housings with cultures of maize and fruit-bearing. The highest point—3384 m—is reached in the Stone of the Mill. Then, you will cross The Cardones National Park by the Straight line of Tin – Tin, former way of the Inca. Coming to Cachi, observe the panoramic view of the Snow-capped mountain of Cachi and Payogasta.  You will visit Cachi Village, crossing the Museum of Archaeology and the Church. Overnight in Cachi.

DAY 05: Cachi – Salta (B)
At the scheduled time, start the return trip to Salta. Overnight in Salta.

DAY 06: Salta – Purmamarca (B)
Today is a full day excursion to Quebrada de Humahuaca and a transfer to your Purmamarca chosen hotel. We will have the first stop at Purmamarca Village where you will observe the Seven Colored Hill, the Church and the Craft Market on the square. Then, continue towards the town of Tilcara where you will visit the Pucará (ancient ruins), the Archaeological Museum, and Huacalera. Cross the Capricorn Tropic, where the colors of La Pollera de la Coya Hill can be seen before you visit Uquía and its church, where the paintings of the Arcabuceros Angels (important vestige in the zone of the Cuzqueña School) are kept. You will arrive in Humahuaca at noon. 

This town has an important Church and the Independence Monument (the Indian) of the sculptor Soto Avendaño. After lunch, you will cross La Paleta del Pintor (Painter’s Palette) framing the town of Maimara. We will arrive to Purmamarca. Overnight in Purmamarca.

DAY 07: Purmamarca – Salta (B)
After some time to explore, your trip will head west to the Salinas Grandes salt desert, an otherworldly expanse of white flatlands that becomes turquoise when it rains. The road from Purmamarca begins to climb as we pass through hamlets such as Quisquira, Patacal and La Ciénaga before finally reaching the winding Cuesta del Lipán. The meandering road spirals up to 4.140 MSL where the crystal-clear sky mingles with the frost and the grasslands. As we approach the Puna, observe bush species such as tola and cacti such as cardón. You will reach Abra de Potrerillo, where the salt flats are located. The Salinas Grandes are a true jewel located on one of the greatest depressions in the province of Salta with an exposed surface of over 12.000 ha of salt, 126 km away from Purmamarca. Multicolored mountains eroded by the winds and rains border the road as we get back to Purmamarca and continue to Salta. Overnight at Salta.

DAY 08: Salta – Buenos Aires (B)
At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport to board a flight to Buenos Aires. Transfer to your chosen hotel. Overnight in Buenos Aires.

 

DAY 09: Buenos Aires (B)
In the morning, enjoy a city tour. Discover the beauty of Buenos Aires by getting to know the Civic Center, starting with the stunning National Congress and the Plaza de Mayo with the House of Government (Casa Rosada), the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Cabildo. We will visit the Colon Theater, one of the opera wonders of the world and cultural pride of the people in Buenos Aires. We will also go to the traditional neighborhood of San Telmo, home to a magical atmosphere that will make you go back in time. We will stop at La Boca, where the first Italian immigrants settled, famous for its picturesque and colorful architecture. Before continuing towards Palermo, a residential neighborhood with several attractions such as the Zoo, the 3 de Febrero Park, the Planetarium, and more. Finally, we will visit La Recoleta, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the city, where we will see the famous cemetery, elegant boutiques, excellent restaurants and outdoor coffee shops. Afternoon at leisure. During the night, we recommend taking one of the optional tango dinner shows. Overnight in Buenos Aires.

DAY 10. Bueno Aires (B)
Transfer to the airport for your flight back home or to an on-going destination.
