ITINERARY

7 NIGHTS / 8 DAYS

Day 1: Manaus

Arrival in Manaus and transfer from airport to selected hotel.

Day 2: Amazon River (B, L, D)

Meet in your lobby to depart for the Amazon River. Enjoy a welcome drink and learn about the route and the facilities. After a snack, the cruise will take you to the Amazon upstream while you learn about the ecology. After dinner, you will use powerful searchlights to see caiman, nighthawks, snakes, and sloths!

Day 3: Janauaca Lake (B, L, D)

Wake up in the Janauaca Lake and start an early canoe exploration of the waking forest. See the Pink River Dolphins and plenty of birds. After breakfast, you will take a walk in the forest and visit the inhabitants of the lake. These peoples live from manioc plantations and other extractive products. In the late afternoon, you will go piranha fishing! Continue to dinner before exploring the forest in your canoes Keep your eyes open for nocturnal animals, and the beautiful night skies filled with millions of stars.

Day 4: Varsea Forest (B, L, D)

Today is an early exploring day for bird watching. Visit several kinds of forests, including Igapo (a beautiful seasonally flooded forest) and the rich Varsea forest. Enjoy your breakfast as the cruise heads towards the “Meeting of the Waters”. The light coloured water of the Amazon and dark water of the Negro do not mix and the two rivers flow side by side for many miles. You will navigate upstream. After lunch, you will meet in the leisure room for lessons about the Amazon, its preservation, and its ecology. After dinner, you will explore the forest in your canoe looking for nocturnal animals.

 

Day 5: Anavilhanas National Park (B, L, D)

An early morning exploring the rain forest along the waters’ edge in your canoe before breakfast. Go on a walk through the forest before swimming and lunch. In the afternoon, you will navigate through the Anavilhanas National Park, one of the world’s largest fresh water archipelagos. In the late afternoon, take your canoe for a ride and learn more about the park.

Day 6: Natives Community (B, L, D)

Enjoy breakfast before visiting the “Natives Community”. Learn about the preparation of manioc flour and the health and education systems for the children of these communities. After lunch, you will arrive on one of the white sandy beaches for a swim in one of the world’s most clean and refreshing waters. On your way towards the Amazon River, you will be served dinner.

Day 7: Lago Janauary Ecological Park & “Meeting of the Waters” (B, L)

Today, another early morning exploration of the Lago Janauary Ecological Park. This is a good place to see wildlife including the “Victoria Regia” (giant water lilies). During breakfast, the cruise will be travelling to the “Meeting of the Waters”. Enjoy the views before heading to your hotel. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 8: Manaus (B)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight home or to an on-going destination.
