ITINERARY

8 NIGHTS / 9 DAYS

Day 1: Mexico City

Arrival in Mexico and transfer from the airport to the hotel. Overnight in Mexico City.

Day 2: Xochimilco – Taxco (B, L)

After breakfast, visit the Guadalupe Shrine, where you will see the Tepeyac Garden and the Indian Chapel. You will have mass inside. Overnight in Mexico. Enjoy a traditional trajinera and go through the canals as you travel to Xochimilco. Continue through the Sierra Madre Occidental and the mountains in the state of Guerrero before reaching the mining city of Taxco—the Silver City. Visit the Santa Prisca church for mass before lunch in a local restaurant. Enjoy free time to visit the silversmith stores and explore the city. Return to Mexico City for overnight.

Day 3: Mexico City (B, L)

Today, visit downtown Mexico City. You will see the “Plaza de la Constitucion”, or the “Zocalo”—one of the most important squares in the country. Visit the National Palace and admire murals by Diego Rivera. Then, visit the ruins of the “Templo Mayor”, the main religious center of the great Aztec empire of Mexico-Tenochtitlan. Attend mass in the more than 200 year old Metropolitan Cathedral. Overnight in Mexico City.

Day 4: Cholula – Puebla (B, L)

Today, visit the state of Puebla and see the Cholula Pyramid and the church of “Nuestra Senora de los Remedios”. Then, visit the Church of “Santa Maria Tonantzintla” and the Roasrio Chapel. You will have mass in the chapel. Each sight today will have beautiful architecture and decoration to admire. Finally, take a tour of the Cathedral of Puebla de los Angeles. Enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before returning to Mexico City for overnight.

 

Day 5: Ocotlan – Tlaxcala (B, L)

Travel towards the state of Tlaxcala. On your way, you will visit the Senora de Ocotlan Shrine for a mass. Then, you will go to the Church of San Miguel del Milagro, visited by hundreds of pilgrims every year. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Mexico City for overnight.

 

Day 6: Pyramids of Teotihuacan (B, L)

After breakfast, visit the parish of Santa Maria Tulpetlac for mass. Then, travel to the archaeological zone of Teotihuacan—the city of gods. Here, you will see the great pyramids of the sun and the mood, walk by the dead avenue, and visit the feathered snake temple Quetzalcoatl. You will take an obsidian workshop and watch a demonstration of Stone and the ancient methods used in pre-Hispanic life. Enjoy a buffet lunch before returning to your hotel for overnight. 

Day 7: Mexico City (B, L)

Today, enjoy a panoramic tour through the three cultures square—the historic place of the last battle between the Aztecs and the Spanish  during the conquest of Mexico-Tenochtitlan. You will have mass in the Tlatelolco Church before visiting the Chapultepec forest. Take a tour of the National Museum of Anthropology and enter the Chapultepec Castle (the only Royal Castle in the American continent). Overnight in Mexico City. 

Day 8: Mexico City (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home or to an on-going destination.
