Arrival to Lima.
Reception and transfer to the hotel. |
DAY 2 LIMA |
Breakfast.
Tour some of Lima's main colonial sites: San Francisco
Churh, the Cathedral, "Plaza Mayor" (main
square), Government, Archbishop, and Torre Tagle Palaces.
Afterwards, drive through Lima's modern residential
areas: San Isidro with its olive grove, golf course,
and “Huaca Huallamarca”; and Miraflores
with its Central Park, “Parque del Amor”,
and ocean views. Afternoon at leisure. |
DAY 3 LIMA/AREQUIPA |
Breakfast.
Transfer to the airport. Departure flight to Arequipa.
Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel.
In the afternoon, tour of the "White City",
including the "Plaza de Armas" (main square),
the Cathedral, La Compañia Church, and the famous
Monastery of Santa Catalina. Next, visit the city's
picturesque surroundings. |
DAY 4 AREQUIPA/COLCA |
Breakfast.
Departure to the Colca Canyon. Enjoy the spectacular
Misti and Chachani volcanoes. Go through the National
Reserve of Aguada Blanca, where vicuñas and possibly
guanacos can be seen. Observe beautiful terraces built
by the pre-Incas for agriculture. Quaint colonial villages
can also be admired. Box lunch included. In the afternoon,
arrive to Colca. Enjoy thermal baths. Dinner. |
DAY 5 COLCA/AREQUIPA |
Breakfast.
In the morning, stop at Cruz del Cóndor, sanctuary
of the condors. Here appreciate the beauty of one of
the deepest canyons in the world. Visit the towns of
Maca, Pinchollo and Yanque. Lunch. In the afternoon,
return to Arequipa and transfer to the hotel. |
DAY 6 AREQUIPA/JULIACA/PUNO |
Breakfast.
Transfer to the airport. Departure flight to Juliaca.
Upon arrival, reception an transfer to the hotel visiting
on the way the well-known pre-Inca "Chullpas"
(towering stone tombs) located on the shores of Lake
Umayo. Sillustani is said to be the burial site of the
ancient Hatun Colla chiefs. |
DAY 7 PUNO/UROS/TAQUILE/PUNO |
Breakfast.
Full-day boat excursion to Taquile, an island located
38 Kms. (24 miles) from Puno in Lake Titicaca. The island
inhabited by 2,000 Quechua-speaking Indians, is considered
a visitor paradise. Pre-Inca ruins, world famous hand
weavings and an ancient communal way of life will be
admired. Lunch included. |
DAY 8 PUNO/CUZCO |
(Only Mondays, Wednesdays and
Saturdays)
Breakfast.
Transfer to the train station. The Andean Explorer’s
glass walled vantage car, provides on this full day
journey to Cuzco: powerful views of the Andes cutting
crisp blue skies, altiplano colorful people, small villages
on the meandering Huatanay, and vicuña and alpaca
foraging on this beautiful patched-work. Lunch included.
Upon arrival, reception and transfer to the hotel. |

DAY 9 CUZCO/PISAC/OLLANTAYTAMBO/URUBAMBA |
(Only Tuesdays, Thursdays and
Sundays)
Breakfast.
Excursion to the village of Pisac located 32 Kms. (20
miles) from Cuzco and shopping at the colorful Indian
market. Lunch in Urubamba, followed by a town tour and
fortress of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley of the
Incas. Overnight in Urubamba. |
DAY 10 URUBAMBA/MACHU PICCHU/CUZCO |
Breakfast.
Transfer to Ollantaytambo's station. A scenic 1 hour
30 minute train trip through the Urubamba Valley, followed
by a 30-minute bus ride up to the breathtaking Lost
City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. Guided tour through
the ruins. After lunch, return to Cuzco (Poroy station)
and transfer to the hotel. |
DAY 11 CUZCO |

Day at leisure. |
DAY 12 CUZCO |
Breakfast.
Morning at leisure.
In the afternoon, a city tour including: the "Plaza
de Armas" (main square), the Cathedral, Santo Domingo
Church (Koricancha), and the surrounding ruins of Puka
Pukara, Kenko, Tampu Machay, and the renowned fortress
and religious site of Sacsayhuaman famous by its cosmic
energy. |
DAY 13 CUZCO/LIMA/PARACAS |
Breakfast.
flight to Lima. Upon arrival, reception and immediately
transfer to the station. Departure with Cruz del Sur
bus to Paracas. Arrival to the hotel. |
DAY 14 PARACAS/NAZCA |
Breakfast.
In the morning, a yacht cruise to the Ballestas Islands
inhabited by thousands of guano birds and sea lions.
On the way to the islands, view the Paracas' gigantic
candelabra on the cliff overlooking the bay. Immediately,
departure by guided, private transportation to Nazca
on the way visit the Ica Regional Museum with its fascinating
collection of mummies, pottery, and textiles from Paracas
and Nazca cultures. Arrival to the hotel. |
DAY 15 NAZCA/LIMA |
Breakfast.
Transfer to the local airport for a 45-minute flight
over the enigmatic Nazca Lines -- huge birds and animals,
geometrical lines resembling a landing field, and other
markings. Afterwards, visit the Chauchilla cemetery
which clearly shows the way the Nazca people buried
their ancestors. The plunder and loot suffered through
centuries of desecration is obvious in this sacred site.
In the afternoon transfer to the station. Departure
with Cruz del Sur bus to Lima. Upon arrival, reception
and transfer to the hotel. |
DAY 16 LIMA/TORONTO |
Breakfast.
At the appropriate time, transfer to the airport. |
