Arrive Iquitos. Transfer from the airport to the harbor in the accompanied by The Muyuna Lodge guide to board the lodge’s boat. Travel by speed boat three hours upriver on the Amazon. Muyuna staff will welcome guests with a typical cold drink upon arrival. Check in to the bungalow and have lunch. After the welcome briefing walk or canoe to Pungal, an area famous for its strangler fig trees and home of the Hoatzin, birds that are a link to the prehistoric with their “three-fingered” wings. After the sunset over Sapote Lake, take a nighttime excursion to look for black and white Caimans, the jungle alligators. Dinner at the lodge. (L,D)

After breakfast, canoe to Juanachi Lake. Here walk or paddle, depending on the water level, to see different types of birds like parrots, macaws, toucans, egrets, hawks, ducks, etc, also sloth and several monkeys. After lunch, hike from lodge through the forest to experience the variety of plants of the region. Try the water of the “Urticaria Tormentosa” vine with its curative powers. Look for the pygmy marmoset, the smallest monkey in the world, and the howler monkey, whose roar can be heard for miles! It is sometimes possible to see some of the jungle cats as well. After dinner take a nocturnal hike from the lodge to experience the jungle after dark. (B,L,D)

This morning before breakfast set out to catch a large variety of birds as they awake to another day in the jungle. See parrots, macaws, toucans, egrets, hawks, and ducks. Later, set out on the Amazon for the most magical moment of the tour: to see and listen to the pink Amazon River dolphins. The boats are equipped with specialized hydrophones and headsets for this unique experience. On the return the lodge, see living examples of the largest aquatic plant in the world, the famous Victoria Regia. Then visit the Purura Lake home to different types of fish, like piranhas, silver hatched fish. After lunch at Muyuna, reluctantly depart the lodge in the speed boat back to Iquitos the Airport..
