DAY 1

Arrive Mexico City and transfer to the Hotel Imperial (or similar), Zona Rosa. Balance of day at leisure. Hotel Imperial Reforma Mexico City, is a four-star classic hotel in the French style that dates from 1904. The Imperial combines the elegance of the 19th century design, 21st century amenities, and a perfect location in the Pink Zone.
 

DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel depart for a half day city tour including the National Palace, the Cathedral and the Plaza of Three Cultures. (B)
 

DAY 3

Breakfast then explore Xochimilco, Mexico City’s floating gardens. Enjoy lunch on one of the boats, and in the afternoon visit the Museum of Anthropology. (B)

DAY 4

Breakfast at the Imperial, then depart on a full day tour to the Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the patron saint of Mexico, and then on to the mysterious pre-Aztec ruins of Teotihuacan, famous for the gigantic pyramids to the Sun and the Moon. (B)
 

DAY 5

After breakfast, depart Mexico City for Morelia. After a tour of this city of granite and marble, continue to Patzcuaro. Tour this important and historic town, and then spend overnight at Hotel Posada Don Vasco. (B)

DAY 6

After breakfast, depart for an interesting excursion by small boat on Lake Patzcuaro. Dock at Janitzio Island in the middle of the lake. In the afternoon continue through the state of Michoacan to Guadalajara, Mexico’s second largest city, in the state of Jalisco, famous for the charros, Mexican cowboys, and the mariachi bands. After a tour of the city, spend overnight at Holiday Inn in the historic centre. (B)

DAY 7

Breakfast at the hotel then depart for the town of Tlaquepaque on the outskirts of the city. Tour the town and get ready to shop in this paradise of Mexican goods and handicrafts. Lunch is included at a typical Mexican restaurant that features entertainment by a mariachi band. After lunch continue to Guanajuato, possibly the most interesting of all Mexico’s colonial cities, with its plazas, subterranean streets and the oldest university on the American continent. Overnight at the Parador San Javier. (B,L)

DAY 8

Breakfast then tour Guanajuato before continuing to San Miguel Allende, famous for its colonial facades, galleries and vibrant arts community. Overnight in San Miguel at Mision de los Angeles. (B)

DAY 9

Breakfast at the hotel, tour San Miguel then return to Mexico City, stopping to tour Queretaro and San Juan del Rio en route. Upon arrival in Mexico City, check in to the Imperial Hotel or similar for one night. (B)

DAY 10

Breakfast at the hotel, before transferring to the airport for the flight home. (B)
