DAY 1 Welcome to Costa Rica! |
Arrival to Juan Santamaría
International / San Jose Airport. Meet and greet
by Martour Costa Rica Representative (CRT), assistance
with entry procedures and luggage. Once clients
individually clear official entry procedures they
exit the terminal building, CRT guide will assist
participants with the transfer to hotel and luggage
handling. Clients will also receive travel documents
and a complete explanation on the following day’s
activities.

DAY 2 From San Jose to Northern Plain:

At the centre of a national park in the northwest
of the country, the perfectly conical, 1633m (5356ft)
Arenal Volcano is everyone's image of a typical
volcano. The volcano has been exceptionally active
since 1968. The degree of activity varies from
week to week; sometimes there is a spectacular
display of flowing red-hot lava and incandescent
rocks flying through the air; at other times,
the volcano is more placid and gently glows in
the dark. Accommodations are mainly rustic. To
observe the volcano is a once in a lifetime experience.
Located on the northern region of Costa Rica
the Arenal Paraíso is a place where you

a great view of the majestic Arenal Volcano. Surrounded

Hiking Tour to Arenal Volcano: Get
pleasure from the most extraordinary view of the
Arenal volcano; all the participants will enjoy
a soft hike crossing the border of this amazing
attraction. We will start the hiking at volcano’s
slopes from a very safe distance for the participants,
through the forest in regeneration, that has grow
up over an old lava flow. The experience is plenty
of natural resources and history about the volcano’s
activity.
Arenal Hanging Bridges: Arenal
Hanging Bridges is a new tourism attraction in
La Fortuna, within a 250-hectare (618 acre) reserve
of primary forest. Visitors who love nature can
enjoy 15 bridges from 5 to 100 meters long, friendly
design along 3 km rain forest circuit of interpretive
paved trails to prevent slipping. The bridges
are building of aluminum, galvanized steel and
concrete, to ensure maximum security for their
visitors. Structural engineers designed them with
the most demanding safety margins in the world.
Guided by a naturalist, who through the natural
history will open for you the doors of a fascinating
and colorful Tropical Rain Forest world. The imposing
vistas of the Volcano from the hanging bridges
over the forest make a perfect combination for
an unforgettable experience.
Arenal Reserve Sky Tram: Come
and visit the Arenal Rainforest Reserve, where
you will be able to appreciate a natural environment
and view waterfalls from the Sky Tram. You also
enjoy the adrenaline and security offer by rivers
and trails trough the Rainforest, and enjoy an
Aerial Tram with the best technology available.
There is also an exhibition area housing photographs
and video of the forest. Sky Tram is an ideal
tour for people of all ages and suitable for those
with disabilities since it has wheelchair access.
The tour includes the ascent and return by cable
car to the top of the Arenal Reserve, where you
can see beautiful landscapes of the forest, lake
and the volcano)

DAY 4 Arenal – Monteverde by Arenal

7:30 am Pick
up at the hotel for the ground & boat transfer
to Monteverde by Arenal Lake.
Lake crossing to Monteverde:
This service, half tour – half transfer
is an scenic, fast and the newest way to go or
come from La Fortuna (Arenal Volcano Area), to
the Monteverde area. Around 7:30 a.m. we start
picking everybody from the hotels in La Fortuna
for a 30 minutes microbus drive to the Arenal
Lake Dam. There we will aboard into a very comfortable
and safe pontoon boat for a 30 to 40 minutes (aprox.)
ride to Río Chiquito, a little town at
the other side of the lake. Once at Río
Chiquito, you leave the boat and make a short
break to strength the legs, after, another 1 ½
hour microbus ride to get to the hotels in the
Monteverde area
11:00 am Estimate arrival to
Monteverde. It is important to consider that the
check in at the hotel is at 2:00 pm. Room will
be provided at guest’s arrival time subject
to availability.

Selvatura is a conservation
project in Monteverde, with an area of more than
1200 acres of protected land, Selvatura’s
Canopy Walkways are the best way to enjoy peacefully
and safely of the virgin cloud forest tree tops.
Through the bridge system and over 1.6 miles of
easy walking trails the visitors can enjoy the
marvels of the cloud forest and get the chance
to see some of the world’s most amazing
and beautiful flora and fauna. Selvatura’s
canopy walkways feature eight bridges with different
lengths, making up to 2400 feet total of bridge
length with altitudes of up to 240 feet.

Monteverde Cloud
Forest Reserve: Located high in the Tilarán
Mountain Range, at an altitude of about 4300 feet
above sea level, Monteverde is one of the Costa
Rica's most scenic spots. Founded by Quakers who
emigrated from the United States, and started
the country's most successful cheese factory.
Monteverde is now best known for its biological
reserve, which is a paradise for researchers and
nature lovers alike. That misty, magical private
cloud forest preserve protects a treasure trove
of rare flora and fauna, including the three-wattle
bellbird and legendary resplendent quetzal --
one of the most beautiful birds in the world.
This is the perfect place for the family to experience,
or for anyone who wants close contact with nature.
Located in the Pacific Province of Puntarenas
at 4.500 feet above the sea level, Hotel de Montaña
Monteverde offers 42 comfortable rooms as well
as a Jacuzzi, Sauna, Conference Room, Bar and
Restaurant which offers the special flavor and
charm of home cooked Costa Rican cuisine. Adjacent
to the hotel is a 15-hacres private forest, offering

Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve:
This is a cloud forest with a quite different
environment from the rainforests of the rest of
the country. The cooler temperatures and high
rainfall create an eco-system, which supports
a plentiful and diverse variety of species. The
Monteverde Cloud forest Reserve covers 10,500
hectares and is a private reserve set up by the
Quakers who settled in the area. The reserve is
home to over 400 species of birds, 100 species
of mammals plus many reptiles, amphibians and
over 6,000 types of insects. The most famous bird
is the legendary quetzal. There are many well-prepared
trails, which mean that visitors can take interesting
short walks as well as longer hikes
Coffee Tour: Learn about Monteverde’s
coffee in this unique coffee tour which gives
you the opportunity to see the whole process,
from the farm to the cup. Coffee sold under the
Monteverde is produced on small farms in the Monteverde
area, averaging of 1 hectare of coffee production
per farm. During the visit to the coffee plantation
you will learn how coffee grows and is harvested.
While walking in a field of shade grown coffee
learn about the history of the area and the role
agriculture has played in the development of Monteverde.

DAY 6 Central Pacific Coast:

Manuel Antonio National Park Area:
The central Pacific coast starts at Uvita and
heads north to the Gulf of Nicoya and the city
of Puntarenas. The Pacific coast has a pleasing
mixture of luxury resorts & deserted beaches.
Most hotels in the Manuel Antonio area are located
between Quepos and Manuel Antonio. Because of
its tropical ambiance and easygoing way of life
has become a mayor destination for travelers.
Rancho Casa Grande Hotel is
located in the lowlands of the Central Pacific
Coast of Costa Rica. The hotel is nestled in the
rainforest, 5 minutes from the Manuel Antonio
National Reserve and the port town of Quepos.
In a class by itself, this charming hotel is in
the heart of 180 acres of private virgin rainforest.
The tropical forest is rich with life and is filled
with endangered species. The hotel offers free
shuttle to Manuel Antonio beach.

Manuel Antonio National Park: (Closed
on Mondays) Let an experienced naturalist
guide take you on an informative hike through
beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park. Though
the main attractions of this park are its two
white sand beaches - Espadilla Sur and Manuel
Antonio - it also protects coastal rain forest,
a mangrove swamp, coral formations and 12 islands
that serve as seabird sanctuaries. Your guide
will teach you about the park's distinctive plant
life and point out some of the resident fauna,
which include 109 mammal species -- such as 3
species of monkeys, agouti, three-toed sloth --
and 184 species of birds.
Canopy Tour: Fly through our
jungle canopy for both trill and adventure of
visiting a great variety of animals in their natural
habitat. In our primary forest – untouched
virgin land – you can see Congo Monkeys,
Coatis, sloth’s, anteaters and more. In
our Secondary forest – land returned to
nature- there are Titi Monkeys, Iguanas, and large
variety of beautiful tropical birds. Our expert
guides will take you to both and help you to identify
the animals. When you arrive at Canopy Tour you
will be fitted with a lightweight, high tech harness
that will keep you feeling comfortable and safe
as you soar way above the forest floor, and you
will be safe. Each of our 16 platforms is build
to hold more than one ton. Our harnesses, cables
and attachments are tested to hold more than three
tons.
