Welcome to Costa Rica! Upon arrival at the international airport in San Jose, you will be met and transferred to you hotel. Places of interest include the Teatro Nacional, The Legislative Assembly building and the Parque Central, east of which is the Cathedral. The National Museum and the Museum of Gold are also worth a visit.

Overnight in San Jose

Today you will take on one of the world's most scenic white water rivers then enjoy unparalleled natural surroundings and the utmost in comfort and service at the award-winning Pacuare Lodge! Indulge in candlelight dinner delicacies by flickering candlelight, explore hidden jungle treasures or conquer a tumbling white water river. We begin with an early morning pick up from the hotel lobby and transfer approximately 3hours to the river put in. Enjoy a typical Costa Rican breakfast en-route. Upon arrival, we start with a 1-1hr and a half river rafting tour to the Pacuare Lodge (class II-III rapids) where you will enjoy a one night stay at Costa Rica's premier eco-lodge. Arrival at the Pacuare Lodge 12:00 - 1:00pm. After lunch, participate in optional activities such as a waterfall hike or simply relax y your private bungalow. After the candlelit dinner, enjoy a cocktail or refreshment before retiring to a restful night's sleep. Overnight at Pacuare Lodge (B,L,D)

Enjoy peaceful sounds as you wake up to birds chirping and the soothing sound of the river nearby. Then head over to the main lodge for a delicious breakfast of home-made bread, tropical fruits, yogurt, eggs, pancakes, cereal and juice and coffee. Between 9:00 - 10:00am you will depart by raft for a fun-filled day of white water rafting (approximately 3hrs over class III-IV rapids), including a delicious picnic lunch along the river. At the river take-out you will have the change to change before being transferred by private minibus to La Fortuna (Arenal). Early evening arrival. Overnight in La Fortuna (B, L, deli-style luch along the river).

After breakfast, take part in a guided hanging bridges walk in La Fortuna. The 2 mile interpretive loop trail includes fifteen bridges, ranging from 16 to 330 feet long, suspended on the primary rain forest. Your naturalist guide will accompany you along the trails explaining the flora and fauna of the area as you try to catch some great sights of wildlife. Arenal Hanging Bridges is an eco tourist project of trails and bridges where the main target is the observation and protection of nature. The private natural reserve contains almost 250 hectares of Tropical Rain Forest, has a vast variety of species from the location. Return to you hotel for some leisure time. 

In the afternoon, enjoy hiking through the rainforest at the base of the active Arenal Volcano. This park is filled with wildlife including monkeys, toucans, coati and a large variety of bird species. Your guide will help spot wildlife and give you a detailed history of the active volcano. After the hike you will head to a lava view point to try and see the lava flows where we will also enjoy some ice cold drinks. After enjoy a soak in the Hot Springs with dinner included. Overnight in La Fortuna at Hotel Mountain Paradise or Similar (B, D)

DAY 5 La Fortuna

DAY 6 La Fortuna - Monteverde

Breakfast at hotel. In the morning, begin a once in a lifetime adventure at the zip canopy lines in Monteverde! This exciting tour consists of traversing from treetop to treetop with specialized climbing equipment over a horizontal cable that is connected between the treetops of the cloud forest. On each tree there is a platform on which you make stops to enjoy the scenery of the forest canopy. The canopy tour offers 14 ziplines ( up to 1,960ft long and 260feet above ground) Also a rappel, two swinging bridges, and the famous Tarzan Swing which is an incredible adventure. Return to the hotel in the afternoon. Leisure time to relax. Overnight (B).

Breakfast at hotel. Board the shuttle transfer to your next destination in Guanacaste Beach (extensions available) or depart from Liberia Airport. (B).
