ITINERARY

7 NIGHTS / 8 DAYS

Day 1: Canada-San Salvador

Arrival in El Salvador and transfer from the airport to the hotel.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park (B, L)

Boasting 3 volcanoes—Santa Ana, Izalco, and Cerro Verde—this national park also known as Cerro Verde National Park is perfect for nature lovers. The park features a lush forest and beautiful flowers as well as some of the most stunning views. The 3 volcanoes offer amazing natural hikes and climbs. You will share this tour with local children, making pupusas (fried masa cakes with filling), and being led by local guides from a non-profit organization. You will then transfer to the Flower Route—a colourful paradise full of an abundance of bright flowers, colourful villages, coffee, nature, crafts, and cuisine. Overnight in Flower Route. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 3: Gordinflonas Archaeological Site and Coffee Tour (B, L)

Today, you will begin your day at what may be the origins of the Mayan Civilization—Santa Leticia archaeological site. This site dates back 600 years B.C. Learn about the culture, the Mayan civilisation and community that lived here. After this tour, you will continue on to visit a coffee plantation. You will learn of the coffee process from cultivation to coffee cup, and participate in a table of coffee cupping. End your tour with a delicious coffee tasting. Afternoon to discover Flower Route. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4: Boqueron Volcano (B, L)

Visit El Boqueron or“big mouth”. You will be able to walk along the crater amidst the volcanic views before you eat lunch. Following this fantastic lunch, you will partake in a corn tour where you will have the opportunity to make your own tortillas!

From there you will head to the Joya de Ceren archaeological site known as the“Pompeii of the Americas”. Following this tour, your will transfer to Suchitoto. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5: Suchitoto (B, L)

Enjoy breakfast before you explore the colonial town of Suchitoto. Here, you will experience the Indigo Workshop. Overnight in Suchitoto.

 

Day 6: Jiquilisco Bay (B, L)

Today, you will visit a monkey community at Jiquilisco Bay—a UNESCO Biosphere reserve. You will learn of the monkeys, their habitations, and get to walk through a forest as you do so. You will also have the chance to interact with the monkeys. In addition, you will receive a boat tour and a tour of the plantation to learn of cacao. You will travel to La Union. Overnight at La Union.

Day 7:  Sea Turtle Tour and Local School (B, L)

Enjoy breakfast before enjoying a day of local non-profits. Travel to Icacal Beach. Nearby, you will visit the sea turtle nursery, learning about how they are being protected in El Icacal as they are endargered—the Leatherback, Hawksbill, Green, and Olive Ridley. You will have the opportunity to help release some turtles back into the Pacific Ocean after you learn of the process needed to save these animals. After this tour, you will head over to a local school where education on the protection of the environment is a priority. Transfer to San Salvador in the afternoon. Overnight at hotel.

 

Day 8: San Salvador-Canada (B)

Transfer to the airport for your flight back home or to an on-going destination.
